La Llorona is a choreographic exploration of femininity, internalised emotion, and cycles of joy and violence through the juxtaposition of a Colombian oral tale of a woman who is abandoned, and in her grief drowns her child and contrasted with lived experience as an Anglo-Colombian woman.
Patricia has successful been awarded a commission from Dance City’s 2021 Commissions programme to research and develop new material for her new work for the stage. La Llorona has also received support from Arts Council England’s Project Grants scheme, and support in kind from Middlesbrough Council.
Patricia Suarez and Moving Art Management are also proud to announce that Patricia is one of three new MAM Associates.
